There are many ways to get to know a city… Revel in Lima’s infinite textures, colours, and aromas, accompanied by a private chef and instructor on a hands-on expedition.
7.5 hour tour led by Penelope Alzamora. "Lima with Zest" is a hands-on travel experience that gets everyone involved, from searching for a variety of local and seasonal ingredients from vendors at a local market right down to the preparation of a cuisine that is based on ancient traditions and long-established culinary styles.
With transportation conveniently provided throughout your entire trip, Penelope, your personal chef and instructor, will give you more than a simple demonstration; you can expect to learn by getting directly involved, from the introduction to and tasting of foreign produce to getting your hands right in on the action in the kitchen. All cooking is done overlooking the Pacific ocean in Penelope‘s apartment in Barranco, the district known for its bohemian character and home of famous Peruvian writers of the 20th century. You will also go on a trip to meet Penelope‘s mother, Marilyn, who will give you a personal tour of her beautiful pottery studio, Jallpa Nina*, featuring internationally renowned, handmade ceramics. Enjoy lunch and finish the day with a walk around Barranco, visiting one of the many art galleries or going for a coffee before being escorted back to your Lima hotel.
